Stop telling me my religion is archaic. Stop telling me there are supposed mistakes in it. Stop telling me that the words written in my Holy Book no longer apply in this world.

Stop.

Have you ever read the Quran? Have you ever read the Bible? Have you ever read the Torah? Do you know the basis of an Abrahamic religion? Do you know what my faith says and what it means to me? NO.

You take random verses from the Quran and you say that I am oppressed. Well let me tell you, I am not oppressed. The Quran, when it was introduced into a land of barbaric people who would rape, kill, and sell women for their own gain, gave women rights that Western women fight for until this very day.

Equal pay?: Women in Islam received this over 1400 years ago.

A right to their own property and money?: Women in Islam have every right to not only their own property and money but also that of their husbands. However, their spouses have no rights over their things.

The right to an education?: Women have the right to get an education, regardless of what they must do and where they must go. A spouse is required to either teach or bring in a teacher for his wife if he does not feel that the outside environment is the right setting. He does not have the right to enclose her or cage her.

The right to divorce?: Women were given this right while nobody else in the world had granted this right to women before.

Throw anything else at me and you know what? I’ll answer it back. And don’t go mixing culture with the purity of religion.

And for the geniuses who think that Islam condones the killing of innocents? Read this verse:

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. [5:32]

The Holy Quran states that if an innocent soul (not an innocent Muslim, an innocent soul) is killed, it is as if all of mankind has been killed. And if an innocent soul is saved, it is as if all of mankind has been saved.

Now, tell me, if this is what my Quran is telling me, how is it wrong? How does it condone the killing of innocents if it is stating that if you kill one innocent person, you kill all of humanity.

And you know something else? Allah (S.W.T.) is not just the God of the Muslims. Go watch this video to get an understanding of what the word “Allah” even means. Allah (S.W.T.) does not call him the god of the Muslimeen (Muslims). He calls himself the God of all mankind.

I wish people would honestly open up a Holy Quran before they decide to bash my religion, my faith, and my way of life.

I have friends who are atheists. I have friends who are agnostics. I have Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and friends from the randomest walks of life. But I don’t ever open up my mouth and talk crap on their religions or lack thereof because honestly, I don’t know as much about their faiths as they do. I have no right to bash something I know nothing about. All I ask for is that everyone else gives me the same respect that I give them.

If you’re going to talk down to me, first learn what I love and what I believe in. Learn it from the source. Don’t go to so reputable website and read random verses that are taken out of context. Even the most positive message can be changed doing that. NO.

Read. “Iqra.” The first word the Angel Gabriel ever said to the Prophet (P.B.U.H.). READ. When you read something, you gain knowledge because you think for yourself. You know how in college when you do research papers and your professors tell you to uses primary sources? Well there is no better primary source on Islam than the actual, honest-to-God, Quran.

So for the last time — before you bash me and my religion — go learn something about it first.

Before you bash anything — go learn about it first. Because you might honestly be surprised at what you find.

Think about it. Why would people who have grown up in the Western World convert to an oppressive religion? Why would women convert to Islam? I have a convert friend and she goes through hell because she wants to practice her religion and her family does not fully understand but shesticks by it because she knows its right. And she is currently a Masters student in Holocaust and Genocide studies and only after studying up on the atrocities that occur and have occurred in this world did she decide to convert. She learned the truth on her own.

Another convert I know is yet again, American born and bred. She accepted Islam and is now looking into wearing a hijab, another supposed form of “oppression”. So before you point your finger, THINK FOR YOURSELF AS THESE PEOPLE HAVE DONE. RESEARCH. USE YOUR MIND. AND LEARN. For only a fool speaks before he knows what he is talking about.
